Williamsburg Handmade Oil Paint
The New York artist Carl Plansky developed the fabulous Williamsburg oil paints in the 1980's, gradually increasing the range by popular demand. Pegasus Art is honoured to be the original supplier in the UK of this great hand-made oil paint.
"Most oil paint is made from a mixture of ground pigment and linseed oil, but that basic recipe, like any recipe, is only as good as the person using it. While big paint companies generally grind every last once of pigment and oil to a uniform consistency, Plansky, using a three-roll mill designed in the 19th Century, grinds each of his 120 colours to a consistency of its own. Artists who are Minimal, Conceptual or just overly literal are not likely to like Plansky's paint, rather it appeals to those who revel in the muckiness of oil paint." - Copyright Deborah Solomon New York Times Inc
This is definitely a premium oil paint and the price reflects the quality. However, 98% of our artists' who use Williamsburg have difficulty ever using anything else again.
