The business was born out of a creative collaboration between two brothers. The origin of the New Wave's art products is very much a family story. Their father had been a painter for many years. The two brothers looked over to their dad's studio and were always struck by the corner of the space, which was where old artist palettes were put to rest when they no longer served their purpose. What struck them in particular was just how huge, heavy, awkward and even painful they were when you went to pick up and try to move one. Picking them up seemed to be a sure fire way of causing pain in the wrist, an area of the body which has huge importance for any artist: there had to be a better way!

Practical Designs, Beautifully Executed

Their solution came with one trip to the lumber yard. With some wood to work with, they quickly knocked up what became the prototype for a completely new way of working on palettes in the art studio. These palettes were lighter, easier to move, more user friendly. The brothers always placed emphasis on how good it felt for the artist to use their palettes, and so these products were also conducive to a more enjoyable and therefore fruitful creative process for the artist.

Their goal has remained the same through this last decade, with everything they make needing to tick off those three boxes of comfort, quality and functionality. Only now their range has increased so that they offer an impressively wide array of fine art products which each help you experience new levels of comfort when you are in the creative zone.
