Stretcher Bars at Pegasus Art - good quality laminated (non-warping) wooden stretcher bars. Three different profiles: 4.5cm deep Gallery Wrap Museum 45 heavy duty bars, the sturdy 2cm deep range of Classic No 6 standard and the lighter weight fine profile 1.8cm deep Classic No 4. Build your own canvas from these pairs of stretcher bars available in a wide range of lengths and remember the cross bars that add strength and stability to the larger canvas stretcher frames.

Where Does The Wood Come From?

All the wooden stretcher bars are manufactured from environmental sourced wood in Europe. They are independently certificated by PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and guaranteed to be from re-newable forestry. The PEFC ensure that forests are managed properly and meet economic and environment criteria as well as promoting sustainable forest management.

Strong and Sturdy Stretcher Bars

Our range of canvas stretcher bars are 'easy to fit together' mitred bars which are cut from laminated cross-grained wood pieces. This dramatically minimises any warping of the lengths - a big bonus for artists. Your frames will stay square and true with these strong and reliable canvas stretcher bars.

What is the Difference Between Gallery & Museum Wrap?

The chunky museum bars are good for either gallery wrap or museum wrap canvases. 'Gallery wrap' is where the canvas and the image or painting goes all the way around the sides of the frame and is secured at the back of the wooden bars. 'Museum wrap' also goes all the way around the side of the frame and secures at the back, but the whole image is only on the front surface of the canvas and the sides are either left blank or coloured to suit the artwork. A 'standard wrap' is where the canvas is secured at the side of the frame (rather than at the back) and our classic stretcher bars are better suited to this.
