Linseed Oil for Painting

In oil painting, the oil paint is usually mixed with linseed oil, before spirits or other solvents can then be added to modulate the thickness and drying properties. We have plenty of top quality options here in our collection when it comes to linseed oil including refined, stand oil, and cold pressed varieties.

Safflower, Walnut and Poppy Oils

As well as linseed oil, it is common for poppy oil, safflower oil and walnut oil to also be used. Depending on your choice of oil, you will be able to help give certain properties to the paint. In this way, you will be able to take control of the amount of yellowing or the drying time, as well as the level of sheen.

Drying Oil

As mentioned above, some of the oils in our range will help you speed up that drying time. These drying oils will therefore be very useful if you want to paint with thick layers but you don't want to wait that extra amount of time before you can paint another layer of details onto what you have done. In general, the oils here will also help with the longevity of your paintings, so that they will stay looking just as good years down the line as they did once you had finished.
