Talens Cobra has been working hard to kick off the 'revoilution'. By this, we mean that Cobra's oils are getting rid of the need to use any harmful solvents. They supply a range of oil paints, mediums, varnishes and more for solvent-free oil painting. Simply dilute Cobra oils with water and then you are good to go!

Cobra Oil Paints

Many artists across the globe have been making the crossover from solvents to water mixable oils. Over prolonged periods of time, you can notice both mentally and physically the damaging effects of using harmful solvents such as white spirit to mix with your oils. But for many years, there was nothing really that you could do about it. Now, however, the Talens Cobra range has changed all that. As you will see when using it, Cobra water-mixable oil paint crucially feels just the same as traditional oil paint. You get the bright and fresh pigments that you would expect from any high quality oil paint, and all you need to do is keep some water handy.

Start Sets to Individual Tubes

Pick up some starter sets if you want to get a taste of what these oil paints are like, and we think you won't be disappointed. Not only are the colours bright and fresh as you use them, but they also have an extremely high level of lightfastness, meaning that they will last without fading for at least 100 years under museum light conditions. The paints give you an even amount of sheen across the canvas, and they all also have a uniform drying time. Cobra Painting Mediums & Varnishes

You can also pick up some Cobra mediums to add to your paints to change their properties and improve durability. Such as the painting meduim for a smooth flow and less visible brush strokes, the glazing medium which is ideal for building thinner translucent layers and then the impasto pastes which are like a transparent oil paint and can help to make your paint go further when using palette knives or thick painting techniques. For the finishing touch, we also have Cobra varnish sprays which will offer even further protection to the paint from the effects of dust and ageing.
