About Lukas
The company was founded in 1862 by dr. Ing. Franz Schoenfeld in Germany and today is still run by members of the same family. The original headquarters was set up in a prime position, opposite the Dusseldorf paint box - a meeting place for painters, writers and architects. Although the company has now moved to a larger building, they are still based in Dusseldorf today. Even the name Lukas has artistic origins as it comes from the 'Saint Lukas' or 'Saint Luke' who is the patron saint of painters. The company has always aimed to achieve quality without compromise by using the best materials and pigments for it's paints and products. Lukas art supplies are now found across the globe.
Lukas Oil Paints
Lukas oil paints offer a high quality yet economical option for both students and professional artists. The paints from the Studio range have a beautiful smooth or 'buttery' consistancy, from added beeswax, that helps to make it less brittle. Lukas ensure the paints have high levels of pigments for a vibrant colour and combine these with refined oils such as linseed and sunflower, which are less likely to yellow over time. Available as individual tubes in a range of 48 colours or as handy paint sets.
There is a lot to explore in the way of oil paints. The Lukas Studio Introduction Oil Set, for example, is a great place to start, offering twelve gorgeous colours in 20ml tubes. Also a perfect choice for beginners would be the Lukas Studio Oil Paint Starter Set, which offers six essential colours to get going with.
You will also be able to buy a handy compact travel pack which not only features oil paints but five brushes too!
Lukas Art Accessories & Equipment
It is not only gorgeous oil paints that Lukas produce, there really are so many other great products, such as the easels, flat brushes, canvas stretching pliers, wooden mannequins and brush washing basins.
