Description
The Grandeur of Trees
A graphite drawing workshop with Wendy Rhodes PhD
Saturday 4th May 2024
10am – 4pm
Studio One All abilities welcome
Celebrate the grandeur and character of trees. As a passionate landscape artist, Wendy often uses the beauty of trees to add structure, gestural character and the effects of light. In this workshop the tree becomes the star of the show. Wendy will guide you in focusing on structure, shape, form, texture and the influence of light, to create an original composition reminiscent of tree artists, such as Blaze Cyan. Removing colour will focus your eye on tonal values and high contrast.
What you will learn:
• Learn about the different types of pencil and graphite options available
• Tonal graphite effects
• Mark making for trees, shadows and sky
• Drawing with erasers
• Creating textures with erasure and indenting
• How to focus your observations
