Join us in a celebration of Georgia O’Keeffe – the ‘Mother of American Modernism’
In conjunction with a new exhibition ‘Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings’ at New Brewery Arts from 13th April – 16th June 2024, we are offering this painting workshop to celebrate one of the most important artists in 20th century American art, balancing abstraction with figuration in her innovative style.
Artist David ‘DJ’ Johnson is well known for his stunning plein air paintings – he is an adventurer who likes to climb mountains and paint extraordinary landscapes. He is fascinated with skies, horizons, light and shadow. In this way, he is very drawn to the New Mexican landscapes of Georgia O’Keeffe and her enlarged flower paintings which have made such an impact on so many.
The canna lily paintings where intended to depict the way that she saw flowers – as a gardener, O’Keeffe was focused on the detail. Others brought their own interpretation to these paintings, seeing them as representations of female genitalia, but the artist always insisted this wasn’t the case.
In this fun and exploratory day workshop you’ll be focusing on composition, abstraction, stamen, colour, shape and tonal values. DJ will also take you step by step through various techniques, working from images he has selected, leaving you feeling inspired and uplifted! Return home with a finished (or almost finished) painting.

About DJ
DJ has developed his style through many years working in professional fine art studios – designing and producing artwork for commercial spaces, public areas and private estates around the world. He paints every day and teaches on a regular basis – he has so much energy and enthusiasm! He was shortlisted for Artists & Illustrators Artist of the Year 2016, a finalist in International Artist magazine multiple times, 2109 Leamington Spa Biennial award winner, 2019 Highly Commended Patchings Artist of the Year, 2020 Wales Contemporary Art prize winner.
His workshops are great for building confidence, tackling unusual subjects and picking up techniques and tips.

Delivery is charged as priced on each order (International delivery exceptions apply).
Standard Delivery: We aim to process and dispatch orders within two days. However at peak order times this may not always be possible so please allow 3-5 days for processing.
If you are unavailable when our delivery partner tries to deliver your order, they will usually try to deliver again the next working day or they will drop a card in to offer you a collection from a local collection point. If you should refuse delivery of goods, or are not available to accept the delivery on both delivery attempts, you will be required to cover any extra costs incurred.

Returns
We hope you are very happy with every purchase from Pegasus Art however if you are not entirely satisfied we are here to help.
Please contact us by phone or email on info@pegasusart.co.uk. This is so one of our staff can determine whether you would like to return the product for a refund or exchange the product.
Returns
You have 28 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Your item must be in the original packaging.
Your item needs to have the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
Once we have received your item and inspected it we will contact you.
If your return is approved, we will initiate an immediate exchange or refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer's policies.
Shipping
Products returned by you because of a defect will be refunded in full, including a refund of the delivery charges for sending the item to you and the cost incurred by you in returning the item to us.
Products returned by you within the seven-day cooling-off period will be refunded in full, including the cost of sending the item to you. However, you will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us.
