Gelli Arts® was started by two women who came together to create innovative gel printing plates. They loved gelatine printing but wanted to develop a better way to do it. The Gelli Arts® gel printing plates look and feel like gelatine but are reusable, non-toxic, easy to clean, store at room temperature, non-perishable, have a sensitive surface, and are always ready to print. Perfect for monoprinting without a press!

How Gellis Arts® Started

Lou Ann Gleason and Joan Bess describe themselves as the left brain and right brain of Gelli Arts. They have a real passion for their products and have a mission to get everyone printing!

Joan (as the right brain) has a long history of creative pursuits and business ventures from stamp companies to vintage papers for collage. She has taught mixed media workshops and experimented with a wide variety of materials. Then Joan started printing on gelatine and discovered the issues that came with that method. This sparked the idea of trying to find a better way to get the same fabulous printing results.

Lou Ann (as the left brain) had over 20 years of experience marketing big brands and developing and launching new products. When she saw Joan printing on gelatine, she was convinced that they could create a non-perishable alternative that would always be ready for printing. They explored the materials and found a way to make the perfect new gel printing plates from non-toxic material.

Monoprinting Without the Press

Made in the USA, we are thrilled to now be stocking Gelli Arts® printing plates in our UK store and online - after many requests from our customers! These gel printing plates make it simple and fun to get into monoprinting without needing a press. You can use acrylic paints too! Create stunning prints with mark making tools and layer up your designs. Then simply clean off your printing plate and start again.
