Description:
Kinari Chiri is a translucent tissue containing bits of unbeaten kozo fibre and kozo bark (chiri) giving the paper a warm, lively look. Great for layering in collage and mixed media. It takes colour well and so may be used for dyeing.

A versatile, machine made kozo paper sheet great for a variety of uses including painting, drawing, and printmaking. Chiri means leftovers, and refers to small bits of the outer black bark of the branches (usually kozo) which have been left in the vat or added to it for a decorative element. Washi is the Japanese word for the traditional papers made from the long inner fibres of three plants, wa meaning Japanese and shi meaning paper. The inner barks of three plants, all native to Japan, are used primarily in the making washi. Kozo (paper mulberry) is said to be the masculine element, the protector, thick and strong. It is the most widely used fibre, and the strongest. It is grown as a farm crop, and regenerates annually, so no forests are depleted in the process. 100% kozo papers - Thin kozo papers are good for chine-collé. They have good absorbency even when very thin because the careful preparation of the fibre creates an even receptivity to ink and moisture. Their great wet strength makes them also appropriate for etching, though they are better misted rather than soaked. The fine texture of a well-made sheet of kozo means that it is used more effectively when there are areas of the paper left unprinted to go hand-in-hand with the artists work. It is much more difficult – and a Japanese specialty – to make very thin even papers like these than it is to make thicker sheets. It requires tremendous care in cleaning the barks of all dross, and great skill at forming the sheets evenly. In spite of their weight, many of these papers will hold layers of ink for printmaking or drawing, and hold up very well to repeated handling. in conservation work or when wet. Delivery is charged as priced on each order (International delivery exceptions apply).
Standard Delivery: We aim to process and dispatch orders within two days. However at peak order times this may not always be possible so please allow 3-5 days for processing.
If you are unavailable when our delivery partner tries to deliver your order, they will usually try to deliver again the next working day or they will drop a card in to offer you a collection from a local collection point. If you should refuse delivery of goods, or are not available to accept the delivery on both delivery attempts, you will be required to cover any extra costs incurred.

If your return is approved, we will initiate an immediate exchange or refund to your credit card (or original method of payment). You will receive the credit within a certain amount of days, depending on your card issuer's policies.
Shipping
Products returned by you because of a defect will be refunded in full, including a refund of the delivery charges for sending the item to you and the cost incurred by you in returning the item to us.
Products returned by you within the seven-day cooling-off period will be refunded in full, including the cost of sending the item to you. However, you will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us.
