You will never be more determined than in the first few months of a new year and we would wholeheartedly encourage you to join our creative and artistic community.

It is well documented that creative pursuits are good for your mental health and well-being. A focused activity, in a sociable group, with supportive mentors and friends will enrich your life beyond any doubt. Picking up a pen or pencil and making marks is as old as time itself – it’s a natural human facility and yet so many of us insist, ‘I’m terrible at painting.’ Every single person has the capacity to draw and we are here to support you in the enjoyment of this simple pleasure.

Art Talks at Pegasus Art

Our series of Art Talks ran for a full year in 2019 and were received with great success. We welcomed Anke Heintz from Schmincke Finest Watercolours in Cologne who gave a fascinating talk about the history of the company and origins of the ‘paint cake’. Watercolourist Barry Herniman used their products giving an insightful demonstration using his famous ‘flick’ technique.

Sarah Wimperis, the Van Gogh expert and the only British artist to work on the Oscar nominated film Loving Vincent, hosted two interesting Art Talks – ‘Travels with my paintbrush’ cataloguing her life as an artist from drawing in China, on the Trans Siberian Express, sketching a snake in Turkey and many commissions in the South of France. She returned with a slideshow detailing her extraordinary experience of living and painting in Gdansk for five months for the filming of Loving Vincent. Sarah is a supremely creative person!

Artist and adventurer, David ‘DJ’ Johnson, arrived fully kitted out in his climbing gear, complete with pochade, paintbox and flask of tea! He often climbs for over two hours to reach his optimum painting spot high in Snowdonia or Austria. The slideshow images were breathtaking, the paintings glorious and the anecdotes charming! A group of Welsh skiers were very surprised to find him!

ART TALKS 2020 invites best selling author Kassia St Clair for an illustrated talk and book signing of the Secret Lives of Colour ‘Five Colourful Histories’. You may have seen her colourful book in Waterstones, or heard her as Book of the Week on Radio 4. She has given talks at Tate Liverpool, the V&A, the National Portrait Gallery, Hay Festival and now Pegasus Art! This talk will tempt both creatives and colour lovers as she explores the hidden histories of five colours in particular – the world’s blackest black, the blue that inspired Yves Klein, the deadly power of white and last but not least….Stroud Scarlet.

Join us on Thursday 26th March from 6 – 8pm. Book your ticket online for £20 here
