History of Bath Society of Artists

Bath Society of Artists is steeped in history. It was founded in 1904 with twenty six foundation members – a number which has grown to around one hundred and twenty members of diverse and talented artists from in and around Bath. It is certainly one of the UK’s longest running societies with an annual exhibition that has, remarkably, shown every single year since it’s inaugural exhibition except for one – which was during the Second World War.

The majority of the exhibitions have taken place at the Victoria Gallery on Pulteney Bridge – a well regarded gallery that shows top quality artists throughout the year and boasts an authentic Tudor painting of King Henry VIII, painted sometime between 1537 and 1557, during the Kings reign.
