30th Mar 2019 Painting with Oil & Cold Wax with Nicki Heenan
Painting with Oil and Cold Wax
with Nicki Heenan
Saturday 30th March 2019
Studio One, Pegasus Art
10am – 4pm All Abilities
An introductory course on working with oil paint and Cold Wax. You will explore the variety of ways cold wax can be used to ad translucency, texture and depth in oil painting. No matter whether you are an abstract or figurative artist, cold wax can be used in many different ways which I will demonstrate in the workshop and give you tips and direction to incorporate this into your own work. I have worked with cold wax for over ten years and there are some very exciting products on the market which we will work with. All abilities are welcome on this course, even if you haven’t ever tried cold wax before!
Born in London, Nicki Heenan moved to New-Zealand as a child. She studied Microbiology (MSc hons) at Auckland University, Art and Music. These areas of learning have formed an integral part of her work as an artist where the experimental methods of science are combined with an abstract visualisation of the landscape.
Nicki’s paintings are very much influenced by surface and substance. Colour is rendered in multi dimensional soft layers with glazing and wax infused with dry pigment. Nicki works in oil, cold wax, acrylic and watercolour. Nicki Heenan Website
