Learn how to paint a watercolour seascape and a marine scene with John Scott Martin, President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
Spend an enjoyable day with John who is a keen sailor and passionate about the sea. Learn how to paint the sea in all its moods. Marine paintings often have a high percentage of sea and sky – and the sea is constantly changing its appearance and depth through the light reflections. During this workshop John will show you how to paint the sea and teach you various techniques. Also, how to place ships and boats on the surface of the sea. Experiment using moulding paste to bring in 3D texture. Learn how to add detail with gouache and how to paint freely using watercolour and horizontal brush strokes. The emphasis is to produce a series of watercolour sketches and learn how to tackle this beautiful and challenging subject matter.
