Meditative Drawing with Emma Burleigh
Saturday 29th November 2025
10am – 4pm
Attic Studio
All abilities welcome, including beginners
An abundance of research has affirmed the healing power of art. Meditative drawing enhances these healing effects by intentionally placing the emphasis on drawing as a process rather than a product. We are here to express rather than impress! We are here to sensitively notice what we see and feel, rather than to be noticed for our achievements as great artists! Making art with a mindful approach can take the pressure off your shoulders to be a ‘good artist’, relieve stress, sharpen your powers of observation and imagination, and open up your awareness to more beauty and joy.
No previous experience of drawing is required. During this workshop Emma will guide you through a series of exercises and reflections that will nurture creativity and develop mindfulness. This workshop is suitable for beginners to either meditation or drawing, (or both) and can also be helpful to more experienced artists struggling with creative block.

About Emma
Emma Burleigh is an artist, illustrator and art tutor. She is the author of two published Art books: Soul Colour, a watercolour course to cultivate mindfulness and creativity, and Earth Colour, a mixed media course to enhance nature-connection.
Emma creates large scale watercolour paintings, makes zines and comics, and illustrates books. Over the last decade she has exhibited paintings around the South West including at The Royal West Academy in Bristol, where she is also a tutor. Emma has been consciously exploring the relationship between meditative awareness and creativity in her teaching and her own work. She started meditating in 2003 to help her manage her stress as a busy school art-teacher, and from 2010 to 2012 she lived and worked as a member of the community at Gaia House, a meditation centre in Devon. Emma has a foundation in Relational Mindfulness from the Karuna Institute.
Emma’s teaching approach is supportive, encouraging and non-judgemental, there are no mistakes, only interesting learning opportunities to which we can bring our curiousity and kindness!
