Description

Kitchen Table Still Life in oils and acrylics

Saturday 10th September 2022

with Andrew Field

10am – 4pm

Working from a still life that can be created very quickly, Andrew will demonstrate his approach to starting a still life. He will talk through and demonstrate the various stages working with a base layer of acrylics to build up the composition and organise the colours and brush-marks before adding final touches using oils. Andrew will share his restricted palette that he uses frequently when creating still life paintings and will explain and demonstrate his mixed media approach, working with acrylic and oils.

First, applicants will create a series of mini studies focusing on ways of creating alternative compositions from the same still life. The studies will then be worked into using a restricted palette focusing on mark making and colour combinations. When participants feel secure and confident they will select their preferred study to develop into a final painting.

About Andrew

Andrew Field is an award-winning artist who has painted all of his life. After graduating from Lancaster University in 2001 and receiving a scholarship for his contribution to the Arts faculty he decided to live for many years in the United Arab Emirates teaching and painting. In that time he had many solo and group exhibitions and over a period of ten years established himself as a recognised artist painting renditions of the landscape of Abu Dhabi, notably Saadiyat Island that is now home to The Louvre, Abu Dhabi. Andrew moved back to the UK in 2015 and has a studio in Stratford Upon Avon. He is an ambassador for Wallace Seymour art materials. https://www.andrewfieldfineart.com/
