These beautiful decorative patterns on paper, known as Chiyogami, are silkscreened onto machine made sheets of mixed kozo and sulphite.
The pigment-based inks used in Chiyogami have an intense colour and it is possible to feel the different layers of colour when you run your fingers over the paper.
Artists love using the papers as a background for art work as well as for collage and book covers.
